2020 Ryder Cup Ticket Sales Suffer Issues Aplenty
The Ryder Cup is arguably (okay, at least for me) one of golf’s must-see events. There’s nothing like normally play for me golfers responsible in a team format to make the knees buckle.
Many fans dream of witnessing USA vs Europe in person. The 2020 matches are at Whistling Straits. Thus, hoards of folks tried to secure tickets online yesterday.
Or not as tweets were quick to pounce on the confounding problems as Charles Curtis of USA Today reports.
The process started with fans logging into a virtual line Wednesday morning and waiting as a little figure slowly crossed the screen to indicate that you were getting closer to purchasing tickets. When it finally arrived at the end — a process that took a while for some people — you were allowed in. When I got in, there were no more match tickets available.
Die-hards weren’t pleased with the process.

Here is the official “apology.”
Due to unprecedented demand for 2020 #RyderCup tickets, which quickly sold out today, some may have experienced challenges during the Random Selection Process. We appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm & excitement for the #RyderCup & apologize for any inconvenience.

If all the tickets for the 2020 #rydercup sell out while I’m still in this virtual line, can I just keep the browser open for the next four years and keep my place in line?? pic.twitter.com/92VyFGb7zE

There are plenty more irate quips for your perusal.
Oh well. At least TV viewers won’t need a lottery to watch on the tube.
I hope…
